Settings
Settings & configuration
Dashly has two levels of settings: your personal profile (applies to you across all workspaces) and your workspace configuration (applies to the current workspace, visible to all members). Only DASHMASTERs can change workspace settings.
Profile settings
Navigate to your profile via the user card at the bottom of the sidebar, or go directly to Dashboard → Profile.
Full name
Your display name across all Dashly workspaces. It appears on project cards (when you are a project team member), the team member list, and in invitation emails. Set this to your real name so colleagues can identify you.
Job title
Optional. Displayed on your team profile card and visible to all workspace members. Helps colleagues understand your role and area of responsibility.
Avatar
Upload a profile photo. This appears on project cards (as an avatar when you are assigned to a project), the team page, and the sidebar profile section. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP. Recommended size: at least 200×200px.
Email address
Your login email. This is also the address all Dashly notifications are sent to. Currently, the email address used at sign-up cannot be changed in-app - contact support if this is needed.
Workspace settings
Navigate to Dashboard → Settings. The following settings apply to your entire workspace and are visible to all members. Only DASHMASTERs can change them.
Company name
The name of your workspace. Appears in the sidebar header, invitation emails, and all workspace-level references within Dashly. Change this if your company rebrands or if you want to rename the workspace.
Country
Your company's primary operating country. This affects default values in financial tools:
- Zambia - NPV default discount rate: 10% (Bank of Zambia base rate + ZMW risk premium)
- Other African emerging markets - NPV default discount rate: 8%
- Developed markets - NPV default discount rate: 5%
The default rate can always be overridden in individual tool calculations.
Currency
The default currency for all financial tools and project budget displays across the workspace. Dashly supports a wide range of global currencies. All members see financial data in the same workspace currency.
The currency selector is also available in the sidebar footer (the flag/currency indicator) for quick changes. Changing the currency changes the display unit - it does not convert historical figures.
Industry
This is one of the most important settings in your workspace. Industry determines which tools appear in the sidebar and the Tools Hub.
| Tool Category | Available When |
|---|---|
| Core Tools (NPV, Risk, Wastage) | Always - every workspace |
| Cross-Industry Tools (Break-even, ROI, etc.) | Always - every workspace |
| Finance & Legal Tools | Finance, Banking, Legal, Accounting industries |
| Property & Infrastructure Tools | Real Estate, Construction, Architecture, Logistics industries |
| Agriculture & Environment Tools | Agriculture, Environmental Services, NGO, Research industries |
| Industry-Specific Tools | Manufacturing, Hospitality, Healthcare, Telecom, etc. (matched per tool) |
INDUSTRY CHANGES ARE INSTANT
Workspace access code
Every workspace has a unique access code - a short alphanumeric string. This code can be shared with existing Dashly users who want to request access to your workspace directly, without a formal email invitation. DASHMASTERs can see the access code in the Settings page.
SECURITY NOTE
Theme
Dashly supports both dark mode and light mode. Switch themes using the theme toggle in the sidebar or your system preference. The chosen theme is saved to your browser and persists across sessions. Dark mode is the default.
Notification preferences
The notification bell in the sidebar header shows recent workspace activity - new project updates, health score changes, and milestone completions. Click any notification to navigate directly to the relevant project. Mark all as read using the button in the notification panel.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
You can enable two-factor authentication on your account in Settings → Account → Two-Factor Authentication. Dashly uses TOTP (Time-based One-Time Passwords), compatible with any standard authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.
Once enabled, you will be prompted for a 6-digit code each time you sign in. Store your backup codes somewhere safe - if you lose access to your authenticator app, recovery without them will require contacting support.
Session management
In Settings → Account → Active Sessions, you can sign out all other active sessions on other devices. This is useful if you believe your account has been accessed without your knowledge, or if you have left a session open on a shared device.
NOTE
Exporting your data
Dashly lets you download a copy of your personal data at any time. Go to Settings → Account → Export My Data and click the download button. You will receive a JSON file containing your profile and all projects in your workspace.
This export covers your account profile and project data. It does not include other users' data within your workspace.
Billing
The Settings → Billing tab shows your current plan and billing history. API access is available on selected plans. Full billing management (plan upgrades, payment methods, invoices) is coming soon - contact us at billing@dashly.co for any billing queries in the meantime.
Signing out
Click Sign out in the sidebar footer. You will be redirected to the Dashly login page. Dashly has an inactivity timeout - if no activity is detected for an extended period, you will be automatically signed out for security. The timeout duration is configured at the platform level.
