Scenario Compare

Scenario Compare lets you run the same calculator multiple times with different assumptions and view all results side by side. The delta columns show exactly how each scenario diverges from your baseline.

Why scenarios matter

A single NPV calculation tells you one story. Scenarios tell you the range: what happens if costs run 20% over? What if revenue materialises 6 months late? Instead of running those calculations and mentally tracking the differences, save each run with a name and compare them in one table.

Ad-hoc compare

The fastest path to a comparison:

Go to Scenarios in the sidebar (or Tools menu).
Optionally filter by project using the dropdown at the top.
Click any tool card to enter the selection step.
Check 2 or 3 saved calculations.
Click Compare.

The first row you select becomes the baseline. Every other column shows its delta percentage beneath each numeric value - green for higher, red for lower.

Named scenario sets

For recurring comparisons you want to revisit, save a named set. A scenario set groups calculations from one tool for one project under a label like 'Base vs. Optimistic vs. Worst Case'.

Open any project and scroll to the Scenarios section in the right sidebar. Click 'New scenario set', give it a name, and choose the tool. The set is saved immediately. Click the link icon to open it in the Scenarios page.

Saved sets for the filtered project appear at the top of the Scenarios overview under 'Saved sets'. Click the compare icon on any set to load its calculations straight into the comparison view.

Delta columns

In the comparison table, the first column is marked BASE. For every numeric field, non-baseline columns show a percentage delta below the value:

Delta colour	Meaning
Green (+%)	This scenario has a higher value than the baseline.
Red (-%)	This scenario has a lower value than the baseline.
No delta	The field is non-numeric (text, boolean, array), or the baseline value is zero.

TIP

Name your saved calculations clearly before comparing - 'Q4 base case', 'Optimistic (15% revenue uplift)', 'Stress test (cost overrun)' - so the column headers are self-explanatory in the compare table.

Project filter

If you only want to compare calculations linked to a specific project, use the project dropdown on the Scenarios overview page. This filters both the tool cards (showing only tools with calculations for that project) and the saved sets panel.

All roles can perform ad-hoc comparisons. Only DASHMASTER and DASHKEEPER can create or delete named scenario sets.
